holly-days - ABV: 4.8%
holly-days is a ruby, seasonal beer from the Woodlands Brewing Company in Nantwich, Cheshire.
As is the norm with a seasonal beer, I expected a slight whiff of Christmas spices to waft up from the glass, but no... all I sensed was a faint hint of malt. Quite boring really...
The bottle promises a deep, rich, malty flavoured ale and the flavour is, well, slightly malty, but generally quite bland.
Having said that, bland probably does this beer a disservice, because as a light, malty session beer, it's actually quite nice with balanced hops and a nice dry aftertaste. Perhaps I was full of expectation with it being a seasonal beer...
Verdict: 2.5/5
