Monty's Ding Dong - ABV: 4.4%
Ding Dong (love the name) is brewed by Monty's brewery in Montgomery (hence the name, I presume) in Powys, mid-Wales and is their Christmas special ale.
It's a straw coloured bitter with a slightly astringent, hoppy aroma and a nice, creamy head that lasted well.
Not only does it look like a traditional bitter, but it also tastes like one, albeit with a more complex, hoppy flavour than you might normally expect. It's light, crisp and very refreshing.
To be honest, the flavour is more reminiscent of a refreshing summer beer rather than a Christmas seasonal brew, but despite my confusion, it's still a nice, bottle conditioned ale.
Who knows... perhaps they wanted a seasonal beer, so they slapped a nice label on an existing brew.?
Verdict: 3/5
