I'll be honest... I reckon I've only had a ginger stout a couple of times, so this is still pretty new to me.
1888 is a ginger stout from Manchester's Marble Brewery and if my previous experience of Marble's ales is anything to go by, I reckon this will be robust and have bags of flavour.

I've no idea how much ginger is in this stout, but on the nose - although slightly noticeable - it seems quite subtle alongside the toasty, malty tones and hints of fruitiness, mainly oranges...
The flavour is gorgeous. Full, fruity and full of liquorice and caramel with a long, dry, hoppy finish which is where the spiciness of the ginger becomes more apparent.
A lovely, full flavoured beer that's well worth seeking out...
Verdict: 4/5
