I consider myself quite lucky to work in Manchester City Centre, mainly because it means that I get the occasional day off due to a bomb evacuation. And, of course, there’s loads of lovely places for a cheeky lunch, or swift half early doors, and I have all the shops I could wish for within a 2 minute stroll from my desk. The latter includes the new and very lovely Beermoth, situated on Tib Street in the Northern Quarter. It being so conveniently situated to work, I'd had a quick shuffty around Beermoth in my lunch hour during its inaugural week, and since then Mr Beer Blog had been relentlessly gibbering on about wanting to go. So armed with a couple of strong bottle carrying bags, off we trotted to see what they have on offer.
It seems to me that Scott and Jeremy, who own Beermoth, have real ale running through their veins. Both have had stacks of craft beer experience, which shows in their passion and willingness to advise. Mr BBGB is still looking for something to quaff with the very nearly famous Glossop Pudding, so we had a chat to the boys and came away with eight bottles to try. A couple from Buxton Brewery (a Beermoth favourite), a Mallinson's brew, and a Kernel amongst others..
I like Beermoth, and I like Scott and Jeremy too. It's a shop that does exactly what you'd expect it to. There's an ever growing selection of Great British Craft Ales, and a fantastic choice of international brews too. And as well as that, the building is lovely, and northern, and unspoilt.. Actually, take that back, I don't like it - I love it!
