Rum Porter - ABV: 4.7%
I love a good rum porter, and this one is from Boggart Brewery in Newton Heath, Manchester.
It pours really well, with a thick head, although not long lasting and with only a little lacing.
Its aroma is subtle (by that, read almost non-existent) with just a hint of toasty caramel and faint spice.
The flavour is more interesting though; showing quite a depth of malt, with a lovely, subtle, sweet, hoppy spiciness that belies the aroma.
As I hinted at the start, I was looking forward to this porter. However, I was initially a bit disappointed by the aroma, but then won over to a degree by a full and well balanced flavour deserving recognition. Nice...
Verdict: 3/5
