Chinook - ABV: 4.1%
Mallinson's Brewing Company was founded in 2008 in Lindley, Huddersfield, creating real ales in both casks and bottles. They produce a range of core beers, single hopped beers and many different types of one-off ales.
Chinook is a golden coloured ale that pours with a light head and quite a lot of dark sediment, brewed using only American Chinook hops.
It has a light malty aroma, with plenty of citrusy floral hops.
The flavour is fresh, with a sharp bitterness, lightly citrusy and peppery with a woody, very dry grapefruit bitter finish and light carbonation.
Chinook is a refreshing bottle conditioned ale with a light floral aroma and long lasting dry bitterness. Not sure whether I would recommend it as a session ale as after a couple, I'd probably be thirstier than I was to start with - it really is THAT dry.!
A lovely beer nevertheless, and well worth seeking out...
Verdict: 3.5/5
