Dinner Ale - ABV: 3.3%
Dinner Ale is an old style, Victorian pale ale from Ilkley Brewery in Yorkshire.
It poured very well, with no sediment, a long lasting but thin head, but crystal clear. Really crystal clear.!!
This pale ale uses Maris Otter, Pilsner and Wheat malts, and they come through heavily on the nose, alongside floral notes from Calypso, Stella and Nelson Sauvin hops.
The maltiness is less pronounced in the mouth, with the hops taking centre stage with a lovely, floral bitterness that hits the spot brilliantly.
This is a really flavoursome, light, pale ale with bags of character and complexity. Add the fact that the low alcohol content makes it a great session beer and Ilkley Brewery are on to a winner here - a brilliant session ale.!
Highly recommended...
Verdict: 4/5
