DogBolter - ABV: 5.6%
I have a soft spot for a good porter (as you well know), so I was looking forward to this one after my last beer being rather bland.
DogBolter is a traditional porter from Gadds' Brewery in Ramsgate, Kent, and is made using six different types of malt and lots of local Kent hops.
It pours really well with a gloriously thick, off-white head which lasted all the way down the glass.
The aroma is heavy with toasted caramel, with perhaps a hint of dark chocolate... Lovely stuff.
The flavour is equally lovely. Initially warm toasty chocolate notes, followed by a really well balanced hoppy bitterness that lasts without being overpowering. Delicious and highly recommended...
Verdict: 4.5/5
