At first glance, this is a lovely golden ale with light, foamy head (that didn't last) and initial thoughts regarding the aroma was a faint whiff of toasted bread and citrus... Quite nice and inoffensive.
Flavours are overall based around a quite light bitterness, but very well balanced. There’s a little malt, with a bit of astringency, plus citrus lemons and perhaps a little grassiness.? (can I say that.?)...
The finish shows up the cascade hops, giving quite a fruity, hoppy aftertaste.
Personally I prefer a slightly maltier ale; but as a session beer, this is hard to find too many faults with.
I wasn't really sure what to expect when first pouring this beer as I had never heard of the brewery before and the label design didn't entirely impress (I know, don't judge a book etc.!). So I suppose I owe Offbeat Brewery an apology for passing an opinion prior to tasting, as its taste really does make this beer a great session ale.
Verdict: 3.5/5
