Lupy as a Toucan - ABV: 5.8%
Lupy as a Toucan is an American style pale ale created by Cheshire Brewhouse in Congleton.
Considering Cheshire Brewhouse have only been in business since 2012, I've so far been hugely impressed by what they've achieved in such a short period of time.
Straight from a settled bottle, this pale ale pours with a thick, long lasting head, plenty of life and a lovely, dark amber colour. On the nose, there's plenty of citrus fruity freshness, with hints of malty warmth... nicely balanced.
The flavour backs up the initial citrusy hints with bags of fruit, yet a great, long lasting bitterness that makes your mouth long for more. The use of Nelson, Galaxy and Motueka hops is a wise choice for a contemporary, Western USA style pale ale and Cheshire Brewhouse have pulled it off with aplomb.
A great pale ale from a great brewery - highly recommended.
Verdict: 4/5
