Making Progress - ABV: 4.1%
OK... It's been quite a long day. We've driven to Chester and back in order for Mrs Beer Blog to purchase some lovely Timberland boots only to find that the ones she wanted weren't in stock.!
Having said that, there was a lovely pair I liked that WERE in stock - Result.!
On the way back, we planned to call in to Praze Fine Foods in Glossop to get hold of the new (and no doubt, amazing) Glossop Pudding. However, while on the way home on the M56, we saw a Tweet from them saying they had sold out.!! Gutted.!!
I'm hoping a couple of Glossop Puddings can be acquired on Monday for subsequent appraisal, as well as recommending an appropriate beer to compliment them.!
Anyway, I digress...
One of the lovely beers I've tasted this evening is from our friends at Wilson Potter Brewery from Middleton, Manchester. From previous experience of the ales from Wilson Potter, I had a feeling 'Making Progress' would be a decent beer, but I kept an open mind...
On the nose. Making Progress is fresh, clean and, dare I say it... a bit vanilla fudgy.??
I don't mean that in a bad way at all, it's a lovely, warm beer that longs to be quaffed.!
The flavour is truly delicious, with an initial burst of zesty citrus, followed by a dry, hoppy, yet caramel vanilla finish. This is complimented with a slight fizz on the tongue to emphasise the hoppiness and make you want more...
I love this beer and I genuinely recommend it to all those who enjoy a well balanced, hoppy yet warm amber ale...
Wilson Potter, you've done it again.!!
Verdict: 4.5/5
