Every intention was had to visit CAMRA's National Winter Ales Festival in Manchester today, but thanks to a fair bit of snow last night in the Glossop area, we decided against it and Mrs Beer Blog baked a chocolate and orange sponge cake instead. Subsequently, not all was lost.!!
Anyway, I believe next year's event will be at the Manchester Velodrome, so an easy trip on the train to Ashburys station will have to be made...
Despite not being able to sample the best of the UK's real ales today, I have managed to stash away some local Manchester brewery bottles for this weekend's blogage!
My intention was to pit some of our local breweries against each other (in the nicest possible, light-hearted way) to see which local breweries are better at certain types of beer than others - all based on taste preference on the day of course.!!
However; not all of our local breweries do an IPA, or a Porter, or a Stout for example, so a certain element of leeway has to be given... I did say this was light-hearted after all.!
