Old Cross - ABV: 5.0%
Old Cross is a ruby ale from Howard Town Brewery, here in Glossop, Derbyshire and is available currently from Trace and Sarah at Praze Fine Foods on Glossop High Street.
The Old Cross in Old Glossop had been removed for renovation following a car strike over a year ago and Old Cross ale was specially brewed as part of a re-dedication service on April 28th 2013.
A medieval market was held on that day and local artisan crafts were available, along with this special ale from the local Howard Town brewery.

Old Cross (the beer that is) is a lovely dark ruby colour, with very little sediment, great carbonation and a thick, fairly dense head that lasts right down the glass.
The smell is warm and slightly musty (in a nice way) with malt and summer berries being the predominant aroma.
In the mouth, the berry tones come to the fore, with heavier malt flavours as a solid foundation. A very moreish beer with bags of personality - I like it a lot.
Verdict: 3.5/5
p.s. Howard Town Brewery also do a limited Father's Day ale called "You're the Daddy", also available from Praze.!
