Slater's Premium Best Bitter - ABV: 4.4%
Slater's Brewery is based in Stafford and I have to admit to never having tried any of their beers before, so I suppose their Premium Best Bitter is probably as good a place to start as any.
Not a particularly lively beer, its head being quite thin and not long lasting, it nevertheless poured quite well with not much sediment.
On the nose there's a nice warm, malty tone with a lovely floral finish, no doubt due to the English Challenger hops used in the brew.
The flavour gives a greater feel for the maltiness of this bitter though, which is nicely balanced by the floral hoppiness found in the aroma.
It's a nice, well rounded bitter that I'd recommend as a session ale, but there's no real punch to the flavour that makes it stand out from the crowd.
Verdict: 3/5
