The Kernel Pale Ale Stella Topaz Zeus - ABV: 5.5%
The Kernel Brewery in London have been brewing high quality ales since September 2009, and this one of their many pale ales.
I have to admit, it can get to a point when reviewing beers that you find few things to say that haven't been said before. This is probably because most beers are created by using tried and tested recipes that ultimately produce beers that are very similar.
After pouring this beer, the first thing that struck me was the amazing aroma, reminiscent of opening a tin of peaches... really sweet and zesty, and quite unlike many beers of this type I've tried before.
The flavour is truly outstanding... grapefruit, peach, vanilla and hints of other citrus fruit, offset by a woody, malty warmth and a long, dry finish.
Absolutely beautiful stuff and straight into the top 10 of all the beers I've ever tasted.
Verdict: 5/5
